Bhairavi Jaikishan

Bhairavi’s journey into the fascinating world of fashion started at a very young age. As a child, she would accompany her mother on holidays and after school to see how she worked. This exposure to fabrics and design at a young age ignited a spark within her to explore her own creativity in Fashion. Straight after completing school, Bhairavi enrolled herself for a 3-year course in Textile Design at the Sophia Polytechnic in Mumbai. On completion of that course she went to America to study Fashion Designing from the prestigious FASHION INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING IN LOS ANGELES. This was a turning point in her life as it opened her mind to creative freedom.

Upon her return to India in 1987, Bhairavi Jaikishan set up her own label and quickly built up a reputation of being a designer known to give an international look to an Indian ensemble. Her forte’ being a marriage between Indian silhouettes and contemporary embroideries and treatments. Her collections are based on feelings and emotions and focus on giving the wearer confidence and grace. Every collection revolves around a large spectrum of colors that evoke happiness and a joy for living.

Bhairavi Jaikishan is known for her fluid silhouettes that flatter the female form . Her clients can identify her creations, at a glance, as a typical Bhairavi Jaikishan design.

Her collections are a celebration of femininity. Clothes that skim the body in luxury and beauty to create an overall electrifying experience for both the wearer as well as the viewer. Ethereal ensembles in gossamer fabrics like Silk and Tulle bring heaven to earth in all things soft and beautiful.

The embroidery techniques are in keeping with the overall style philosophy of comfort and fluidity. An emphasis on lightweight embroideries, that allows easy and free movements. A combination of machine embroidery in colorful Silk thread and enhanced with zari, sequins and various elements sourced from all over the world to add extra pizzazz to the ensemble.
